Adjusting the front Derailleur - Setting limits

We take for granted that the derailleur is mounted at the correct height and parallel to the discs, the cable has the correct trends and the derailleur or the discs are not twisted. The screws «L» and «H» regulated during the initial placement of the derailleur on the bike and since we do not deal with them again. Their only function is to define the limits of movement of the derailleur.

No related how changing speeds. If deregulation derailleur, do the following.

Screw «H» (High): As the screws the derailleur is gathered to the left (towards the small disk).

Screw «L» (Low): As the screws the derailleur is gathered to the right (towards the long drive )

For the screw «L» put behind large gear, and small disk look ahead distance of the chain from the inner side of the hanger to be small (1 mm and less). If greater then slowly screwing the «L». If the chain is touching then unscrew the «L» to give some air. Rotate the pedals to make sure that no chain during movement, we change the middle tray back in the small. If on return to the small disk chain is slow to change (over a full rotation of the crank) unscrew slightly the «L» (1/8 turn) and repeat until they achieve correct change from middle to small disk.

Note 1: The above assume that the initial tension of the cable is correct. In the small disk derailleur cable should be relaxed.

Note 2: It is very likely that the indications «H» and «L» or have been erased or not there are, in any case we need to know what is what. Put the large tray, grab the derailleur and begin to tease one of the two screws. If you see or feel some movement then found the "H". Otherwise it will become something and know that the screw that matters is the «L». If you work in a small tray then the converse is true. Generally the screw inwards likely the «L» and screw outwardly likely the "H" but do not just assume.

For the screw "H" put back pinion, large tray and look ahead distance of the chain from the inner side of the hanger to be small (1 mm and less). Obviously, we look to the distance the chain from the right side of the derailleur (the opposite side from that seen before and that shown in the figure). If greater then slowly screw the 'H'.

If the chain is touching then unscrew the 'H' to give some air. Rotate the pedals to make sure that no chain during movement, we change the middle tray back in the large. If during the long drive back to the chain is slow to change (over a full rotation of the crank) unscrew the little "H" (1/8
turn) and repeat until you achieve the correct change from medium to large disk.

Note 1: The above assume that the initial tension of the cable is correct. On the long drive derailleur cable should be tight.
